Villas Resort Hotel

This was quite a disappointment. This hotel was rated as a 4 star hotel but i do not think that that reflects the service or the experience. Our room was located facing the pool and with some sea views, which is nice. During the evening, though, an 'entertainer' sings music by the pool just below next to the bar. The last time I saw this was in other hotels meant to cater for cheap tourists and not at a 4 star. Moreover, the said music would be so loud for the roo.s above that sleep is out is disturb at the very least till past 11pm. Within 3 days, I experienced 2 fights between waiters/barman. The barman was arguing that he cannot take so many people, even if we were about 15 or so in all. Waiter was actually asking us to go off the bar and fetch a table for the drink as the barman wanted space cleared. To be fair, we met at least 3 people that were very nice, with one even boiling and my egg when it was not being offered in the breakfast buffet. I still think that the attitude of a couple should not be tolerated though. In 3 nights, we had the AC not working. I told the receptionist about it and as it was working in the morning I do not think she told anyone. We had the same issue on the next night! When you consider that the grounds of the hotel hosts detached villas with pools you'd consider that this is a luxurious place. Think again. Even the ambience needs some uplift. Nothing compared to the other hotels we have been during our stay in Sardinia.

4 stars maybe back in 2015! Now it's an expensive and over-rated resort that barely meet the international standards for 3 stars. A holiday in Villas Resort in Castiadas I believe will leave most guests with a very clear idea of what not to look for on their next trip to Sardinia. Things that need immediate attention in my view are: 1. Transfer from and to Cagliari airport is subcontracted to a third party company that charges 240 Euro both ways. The vans are new and drivers are professional but the cost is completely out of proportion. I did arrive and left with a number of other guests and a shuttle bus from the resort would have been a lot more profitable for the hotel and less of an inconvenient for the guests. 2. The hotel does not offer any options to guests for travelling to nearby Costa Rei city centre nor to the more iconic Villa Simius. The only option to Costa Rei if you don't have a car is walking but doing that along the main road is very dangerous. I would suggest to walk along the beach. As for more remote areas, the only option is to call taxi or local transportation companies. Depending on their availability and whether the ask comes during peak hours, you can be charged up to 80 euro to cover the distance of 5 km. Unbelievable. I haven't thought of it in the beginning, but the situation left me no other options than renting a car. 3. Rooms are dated. Cleanliness is ok and staff is helpful and cordial but the quality of beds, mattresses, linens a pillows is way below any acceptable standard. We all left with back pain. In room fridge is hopeless, no kettle and no tea/coffee. A/C functioning depends on luck. 4. American Bar by the pool. It sounds cool and the place is really cool, but the bar management is a disaster. There is no menu, no food whatsoever, only ham and cheese toasts leftover from breakfast, olives and peanuts. No fancy ice cream cups, no fresh coconut drinks, no fresh pineapple drinks, no hamburger with fries, no tortillas, no popcorns, no salads just ... sadness. In fact they don't even have a proper list of drinks to look at. Waiters walk over to tables surrounding the pool and ask guests what they would like to have ... when we asked back what do you have? The answer we got has been something like 'the usual drinks, spritz, mojito, gin tonic...'. Kids could not even have confectioned icecreams, because by the pool they only serve fresh icecream in 4 flavours, take it or leave it. Really demoting and demotivating... What about the glamorous and worldwide famous Italian aperitivo? Or a more international Happy Hours? Nothing... just utter depression! 5. Canteen deserve a special note of blame. A complete disaster. Average food with low quality so we ended up skipping almost every lunch and dinner. As for breakfast we couldn't escape. At the entrance you are forced into a narrow corridor with food buffets both sides, infested with flies, not sufficient air flow so the mixture of heat, people and flies makes your appetite go away forever. 6. Extras. Need to pay extra if you want to seat near the pool at breakfast, lunch and dinner. As a result, those tables are often empty and people are squeezed to the other side of the dining area. Surreal. Extra to be paid up to 100 euro per day if you want to get a beach umbrella on 1st or 2nd row from sea-shore.
